Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 Rating - 8/10 "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!"      Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 brings back the misfit team of Marvel’s cosmic universe for another round of wild adventures, this time diving deeper into their relationships and backstories. Directed once again by James Gunn, the film focuses heavily on Peter Quill’s past and his relationship with his celestial father, Ego, while still delivering the vibrant visuals and offbeat energy that made the first movie such a surprise hit.      One of the biggest strengths here is the character work. The new addition of Mantis adds a unique dynamic to the team, offering both innocence and comic timing, while characters like Yondu and Rocket are given more emotional depth. The film also does an excellent job fleshing out Ego as a villain. His motivations and presence are compelling, and Kurt Russell plays him with a charismatic edge that slowly reveals its darker side.    ...

Get Out - The Best Horror Movie Today Rating - 10/10 "Now you're in the sunken place."      Get Out is a modern masterpiece of horror and social commentary that redefined what the genre could be. Written and directed by Jordan Peele, this film follows Chris, a young Black man visiting his white girlfriend’s family for the weekend, only to discover a horrifying secret lurking beneath their seemingly friendly exterior.      From the very beginning, the film is layered with unease. Peele masterfully blends everyday awkwardness with creeping dread, creating an atmosphere that feels both real and surreal. Daniel Kaluuya delivers a great performance as Chris, grounding the film with his subtle reactions and emotional depth. His ability to convey terror, confusion, and restraint makes the audience feel every chilling moment alongside him.      What makes Get Out stand out is its razor-sharp commentary on race, privilege, and the sinister underb...

Halloween (1978) - The Original Horror Classic Rating - 8/10   "It's Halloween. Everyone's entitled to one good scare."      Halloween is a landmark in the horror genre that set the standard for slasher films for decades to come. Directed by John Carpenter, this 1978 classic follows Laurie Strode, a teenager in the small town of Haddonfield, as she becomes the target of Michael Myers — a masked killer who escapes from a mental institution and returns to his hometown on Halloween night.      Jamie Lee Curtis delivers a breakout performance as Laurie, embodying vulnerability, fear, and resilience in a way that makes her one of the most iconic final girls in horror history. Donald Pleasence adds gravitas as Dr. Loomis, the man desperately trying to stop Michael, and his ominous warnings give the film an extra layer of tension.      What truly makes Halloween work is its atmosphere. Carpenter’s direction, combined with his haunting scor...

Doctor Strange - A Magical Comic Book Blast Rating - 8/10 "Dormammu, I've come to bargain."      Doctor Strange is a visually mesmerizing journey into the mystical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It tells the story of Stephen Strange, a brilliant yet arrogant neurosurgeon whose life changes after a devastating car accident robs him of the use of his hands. His desperate search for healing leads him to the Ancient One and a world of sorcery, dimensions, and powers far beyond science.      Benedict Cumberbatch gives a compelling performance, perfectly capturing Strange’s transformation from self-absorbed genius to reluctant hero. The supporting cast shines as well, with Tilda Swinton bringing a unique gravitas to the Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor laying strong groundwork as Mordo, and Benedict Wong delivering some well-placed humor.      The special effects are where this movie truly stands out. The mirror dimension, reality-bending ...

Beetlejuice (1988) - Movie Review

Beetlejuice - Hilarious Horror Chaos  Rating - 9/10   "It's showtime!"      Beetlejuice is one of those rare films that manages to be completely absurd and yet brilliantly cohesive at the same time. Tim Burton delivers a masterclass in dark comedy here, creating a world that feels like it is stitched together from gothic fairy tales and Saturday morning cartoons. The story of the Maitlands, a recently deceased couple trying to reclaim their home, takes audiences on a wildly creative journey through the afterlife that is filled with unforgettable moments.      Michael Keaton’s performance as Beetlejuice is chaotic perfection. He brings an infectious, unpredictable energy to the role, and every time he appears on screen the film kicks into overdrive. Winona Ryder shines as Lydia, capturing that perfect balance of teenage detachment and curiosity, while the rest of the cast plays their roles with a kind of offbeat sincerity that makes the bizarre ...
