Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 (2015) - Movie Review
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 - The Epitome of Lazy Garbage
Rating - 1/10
“Always bet on Blart.”
Actually, never bet on Blart. Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 is one of those sequels that makes you wonder why it even exists. The first film was already a dumb but mildly nostalgic comedy, but this one takes every flaw from the original and makes it worse. It is painfully unfunny, lazily written, and feels like a cheap excuse to send Kevin James on a vacation to Las Vegas.
The story is as thin as it gets. Blart heads to a security guard convention in Vegas, where he stumbles into another half baked plot involving art thieves. It never feels like there are real stakes or even real jokes. Instead, the movie leans on pratfalls, fat jokes, and painfully drawn out gags that go nowhere.
Kevin James tries to make it work, but even his charm cannot save this disaster. Just kidding, he has no charm. The supporting cast is forgettable, the villains are weak, and the movie drags despite only being an hour and a half long. The pacing is a mess, with scenes that feel more like filler than actual comedy.
Visually, the film looks more like a made for TV special than a big screen release. The Vegas setting could have been fun, but instead it is wasted on awkward slapstick and embarrassing sequences that are more cringe than comedy.
There is almost nothing redeemable here. If the first Paul Blart was at least harmless, this sequel is the exact opposite. It is one of the worst comedy sequels in recent memory, and its only real value is in showing just how low studio comedies can sink. The movie expects it's audience to be dumb enough to laugh at it, which is just insulting to the few people that actually did.
Watching Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 is not fun, it is not funny, and it is certainly not worth your time. It is cinematic junk food that is stale before you even open the bag.
